slip ups

I've never been one to mind my P's and Q's. In fact, I burp out loud and think it's hilarious. So when it comes to certain fashion faux pas's, I tend to embrace them with integrity. For instance, wearing my tiered lace SLIP as a SKIRT for all the world to see. Kind of feels like running backwards or coloring outside the lines, Empowering!

nothing but love for leggings

It's no doubt that the legging is here to stay. Even if you're a child of the 80's and despise the nostalgic reminder that makes you shutter, "What the heck was I thinking?", you will never escape this spandex phenomenon. Designers continue to praise the spandex gods well into their Fall 2009 collections.

goth shimmer leggings at Marc Jacobs
edgy black w/ feminine lace & fluffy chiffon at Max Azria
This is a look I will definitely be caught in soon

bamboo sky waikiki

It's been a while since my last blog, but my neglect does not come without a really, really, really good reason. Bamboo Sky has been in business for 3 years and we have always aspired to open a second location in Waikiki. Recently, my husband (the savvy business man that I love so much) found a quaint space in the heart of Waikiki for a deal we could not refuse. For the past 2 weeks, he worked long and hard to build the 2nd store of my dreams. It was a stressful and chaotic 2 weeks for the both of us.

While still maintaining the everyday business at our now, "flag ship" Ward location, between the two of us, we had to design the floorplan, renovate the space from scratch, arrange to have fixtures and supplies shipped in, go on a buying trip to completely fill the new store and refill the other, input the new inventory, merchandise, make 20 necklaces per night.... the list goes on and on and on.

However, we also could not have done this so seamlessly without the love, support and sacrifice of

My dad, who was in the middle of renovating their condo, but stopped to build my new custom cash wrap

My mom, who despite her extremely busy work schedule, took the time to help me with my new POS system and stayed up until 2 am with us the night before opening to help me merchandise, steam and tag the inventory

My brother, who totally helped with IT support to say the least and helped me pack and re-pack to figure out the most cost effective way to get the new merchadise home

Shane's family, who helped with expediting our fixtures and supplies from the mainland

AND, of course, our super fantasic girls who worked extra hard in our absense and continue to beat their goals every week!!!!

On Friday, July 17th, we opened the doors for business. We still have a few more things to add, like a comfy "man chair" area, some tables and a couple more racks, but I'm so happy and proud of this new store.

Here's a look at the "before and after" of Bamboo Sky Waikiki.

LA is my playground

Before I moved home to open Bamboo Sky, I lived all over Los Angeles for 10 years! From Burbank to Studio City to Downtown to North Hollywood to West Los Angeles to Long Beach to Arcadia and finally to Santa Monica. This also means that vinny and titters are well-traveled and cultured . haha!!!

And as much as I love living in paradise, I'm am so blessed to be able to travel back to the place that inspired who I am today. The people, the places, the sights and the sounds are addicting and motivating.
This trip, I took some time to visit just a few of my favorite places. There's so much more, but I guess I'll have to take them in doses, or I may just be compelled to move back!

LA homes have so much character

The view from the hill I used to live on in Down Town.

I love it,
the arch way, the pillars, the siding, the garden, the enclosed balcony
I love it all

My old apartment that over looked dowtown Los Angeles.
