walk this way

Sort of been on a blog hiatus. Ironically attributed to my go-go-go hectic work load that made me…..lazy? Go figure. I think preparing for this busy season has sucked all the creativity out of me. Don't judge me but I wore the same thing 3 times in one week and I contemplated working in sweats on more than 5 occasions. I've been relying mostly on my withering eyelash extensions and Longs-bought cherry chapstick for a half way decent face. And the hair! Oh my gosh, the hair!!! The overgrown, Rapunzel locks are not doing it for me. So it's be tucked away in a haphazard bun for weeks now. Aye!!! I'm a mess.

But I must say, the other day, I was inspired by this magical hooded duster that we carry at bsky. It's one of those "sleeper" styles that might get lost amongst the sparkly holiday frocks until you actually try it on. It's so effortless, it's perfect for my hum drum style of dress nowadays. It actually got me to put on eyeliner, real lipgloss and heels higher than 2.5" today. Like I said, magical! Oh, and I made an appointment to get my hair did this weekend!!! So anyway, I'm hoping this magical duster will be the start of the fashion reboot I so desperately need.

ps- Look at this bad boy move! Now that'll put some pep into anyone's step!
pps- winks to Laurie ; )

This necklace is also magical. How clever is the asymmetry. I swear, I die.
Funny story…. When I asked my dad (who was my photographer today), "Does the necklace look ok? Are all the chains out of my shirt?" He said, "Yah, but it's all crooked." (innocently referring to the asymmetry that is) So cute yah, my dad?

just saying...

Recently did some cleaning up of my blog roll (people I follow). Removed a certain blogger from my inspiration because I was turned off by the I'm-better-than-you-because-I'm-against-everything-mainstream-and-I-only-wear-designer attitude in one of her recent posts. Ironically, in my opinion, wearing everything designer is mainstream. Uh, designer's are alllllll over magazine "must-have" lists, so don't act as if you're so beyond these lists. She defends that buying from mainstream places like F21, supports illegal labor laws in the US and other countries. If you are so righteous, you would realize that wearing only designer nurtures unnecessary pretentiousness, which is also a severe injustice to human morality in my book. Society does not need more self centered bitches any more than they need greedy corporations w under paid employees. Don't flaunt your designer duds and then make others feel like shit for shopping at "lesser" places. And don't hide your egotistical bullshit behind the labor law thing. If you truly felt that way, you would be wearing everything vintage or thrifted. In closing, though, she is definitely entitled to her own opinions about fashion (that's what blogging is for), this is my blog, and I choose to express, that I think you're full of yourself. Just saying.

ruffles + scallops

An obvious, straight forward title today.

Coming up with a witty title or something creative to write about everyday is pretty exhaustive on the mind. Especially now that I've committed myself to thinking of catchy names for each and every style on shop.bamboosky.com. If you only knew how long it took 3 brains (me+shane+summer, or me+terence+jason, or me+myself+I) to come up with something that reminds us of the garment. Yet, that has a cute girly appeal! Sigh*

So today, I will not give you a cool reason why I wore this, or speak of it metaphorically, or relate it to anything I did lately. It just is what it is . . . . an asymmetrical chiffon ruffle blouse + tiered scallop pencil skirt.

Itsa me! Maaario!

We raced around Waikiki for Halloween, in our meticulously crafted mario carts. I must say, we saw a few other versions of us, but my friends were the hottest by far. I mean have you ever witnessed Toad with a hotter "rack", or a sexier blonde asian Princess Peach, or Wario in cut up fishnet thigh highs, or Mario with a cuter mustache? I think not! Well, of course I'm bias, these are MY girls and I love them to death.

*Full documentation of our Halloween debauchery will be posted on my FB soon!
