Wah, wah, wah!
Alright tantrum done.
Looking ahead now, 2011 is promising. There are many NEW and very exciting adventures to be had. Starting with our annual get-a-way trip. For the past few years, the hubby and I made it a tradition to travel somewhere together for some romantic QT. Of course, QT includes bestie company (hehe, the more the merrier). Last year we did Japan, previous years we did LA/Big Bear, this year we explore SF!!! I plan to eat everything in sight, but does anyone have insider tips on cool things to do, besides the obvious (ie: Golden Gate Bridge, Height Street, Fisherman's Wharf, Lombard Street, etc)? I'm talking stuff only locals know about. Like cool open markets, restaurants, hidden bars, clubs, vintage shops and so on. I want to be inspired by art and culture and fashion. Please share!!!

red lipstick looks great on ya!
ReplyDeleteI'm from SF and I suggest yelping and googling some restaurants around Clement St and Irving St. Some hole in the wall places but very delicious. For roasted crab and garlic noodles go to PPQ Dungeness Island. Spot Lounge on Taraval St for Korean BBQ, "the spot" chicken wings and yummy soju. On Noreiga St there's this garage turned restaurant called Toyose. Very delicious and legitimate Korean BBQ as well. Palomino near the Pier for cheap all day happy hour, gorgonzola fries are to die for! Lol. Hope that helped! And for thrifting, check out Thrift Town on Mission St. for cheap stuff. Shopping is a must at Union Square, 3 H&Ms in the area! <3
ReplyDeleteTiff, check out Gwyneth Paltrow's GOOP website...a few months ago she did a great article on San Fran. Lots of suggestions for hotels, restaurants, sights and shopping! Happy hunting to you :)
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE SF and because my cousin lives there, I've been treated to sight-seeing the local way: on foot, on bus, cab, etc, which is the most convenient way to get around - not to mention the best way to work off all the calories consumed. You have to check out both the new and the old China Town, you will LOVE the shops and trinkets that litter the streets of the old China Town. Bar hopping in the Castro, yummy coffee and pastries at La Boulange and Tartine, Citizen Cake (amazing cupcakes), Asqew Grill, Frytz (yummy sweet and savory crepes pared with truffle fries), boutique shopping on Haight street is my absolute favorite (the location of Asqew). You would also enjoy shopping in Hayes Valley, most of the boutiques are on the pricier side but there are some really fun shops for both clothing and housewares. You will have a blast! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness! thank you so much for the advice and tips!!! I will be researching, yelping and googling all suggestions and planning my trip accordingly. That's exactly the kind of stuff I needed help with. Thanks again for stopping by my blog and for taking the time to respond to my inquiry. xoxoxoxoxo…. now time to think about what to pack. I feel a "what I'm packing" post coming on ; )
